DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skillls) Leadership Insititute

Brief Description: Targeted audience and purpose: The DIBELS Leadership Institute is designed primarily for staff developers and school leaders with extensive experience and background in teaching and assessing reading. It is recommended that each participant has assessed at least three benchmarking periods using the DIBELS measures. This six-day training presented by ADE’s K-12 Literacy Section will focus on the administration, scoring, interpretation, and use of DIBELS assessment measures within a comprehensive scientifically based reading program. Participants who wish to receive a Certificate of Content Knowledge will be asked to complete a written, take-home exam at the conclusion of the Leadership Institute. To participate in the certification process, each trainee will be required to accomplish the following: 1. Attend all six days of the Leadership Institute (be there for all hours of the Institute). 2. Read and react to a minimum of three pertinent research articles. 3. Pass daily quizzes on the previous day’s course content. 4. Present one DIBELS measure to a small group. 5. Participate in small group activities using DIBELS reports and site data. 6. Pass the take home exam. 7. Successfully co-present with an Arizona Certified DIBELS Trainer
