What is the purpose of the Resource section?What types of files can I share? How do I delete a resource after I have posted it? How do I replace a file after I have posted it? How does the discussion work? (How is it different from a listserv?) While a listserv is e-mail based, the discussion is both e-mail and Web-based. Members have the option to send and receive messages from their email client and the Web site. All messages are archived on the site. Why am I getting other people's replies in my email? Replying to a discussion group message in email automatically sends a reply to the whole group. Replies that are more appropriate for the sender ONLY should be addressed directly to the sender's email. How do I send a message to the discussion? How do I reply to the messages that I receive? How do I reply to a message so that it is received by the sender and not by the other members of the group? Each message has instructions at the bottom that explain how to reply to the sender or the group. For your convenience, these instructions include links. Can I receive discussion messages in a daily digest? You can have messages sent to you individually or in a daily digest. 1. Click on My Profile. 2. Click on Email Preferences beside My Discussions. 3. Select Daily Digest and press Submit. Can I read messages online at my convenience and not receive them in my email? Yes, you can opt to not receive discussion messages by e-mail. 1. Click on My Profile. 2. Click on Email Preferences beside My Discussions. 3. Select No emails and press Submit. How do I change the e-mail address on my account? You can change the e-mail address by clicking on My Profile, typing your email address, and pressing Submit. How can I get off (leave) a discussion group? Go to the discussion page and click Unsubscribe. You also have the option to stay in the group but to stop receiving messages in your email. To do so, 1. Click on My Profile. 2. Click on Email Preferences beside "My Discussions." 3. Select No emails and press Submit. What is the purpose of the Resource section? The Resource section allows members to post documents (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF) and Web site addresses for others to download. Once a resource has been created, members to add comments that appear on the resource page. To add a resource: 1. Click Add File. 2. Browse for the file and provide information in the appropriate spaces. The Resource Category menu has categories so that members can easily search for resources associated with each. What types of files can I share? You can share Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF and text files. The Add File form will ask you to select the type of file you are uploading. How do I delete a file after I have posted it? Individual members can delete the files they created: 1. Select the resource that you want. 2. Click on Delete. How do I replace a file after I have posted it? You can replace a file without having to create a new resource. 1. Select the resource that you want to change. 2. Click on Replace File. 3. Browse for the new file and press Submit. |
