The NCLB Act continued the Charter School Grant Program for all states. It provides competitive grants through states that have charter school laws, to schools in states that do not to support planning, design, implementation, and dissemination of charter schools. States in turn offer competitive grants to individual charter schools for their start-up planning and implementation phase. National Alliance for Public Charter Schools The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools is a charter school support and advocacy organization. This Web site provides access to Alliance publications, an analysis of issues facing charter schools, and a state-by-state online charter school database that allows users to compare charter school policies. National Association of Charter School Authorizers NACSA is a nonprofit membership association of educational agencies across the country that authorize and oversee charter public schools. Their mission is to promote the establishment and operation of quality charter schools through responsible oversight in the public interest. Their Web site provides information on their programs and publications. The site also provides a link to their Education Service Provider Clearinghouse, which profiles 44 national and regional service providers. US Charter Schools Web Site The US Charter Schools web site developed by the US Department of Education and WestEd is a valuable source of information and knowledge for charter school developers, operators, parents, researchers and policy makers.
