USDE Releases Alternative Routes to Teacher Certification Booklet

ED's Office of Innovation and Improvement (OII) released the fifth booklet on promising practices in education. "Innovations in Education: Alternative Routes to Teacher Certification" offers practical advice for training highly qualified teachers and examples of successful alternative teacher certification programs.

This United States Department of Education publication is organized around four action areas that emphasize the elements needed to create a promising alternative route program:
(1) Recruit widely and select carefully;
(2) Design a coherent, flexible program;
(3) Provide extensive support; and
(4) Engage in continuous improvement.
