Spotlight on Equity

This month, SchoolsMovingUp is excited to introduce you to the Region IX Equity Assistance Center at WestEd. The Region IX EAC focuses on critical civil rights, equity, and school reform issues. We offer our congratulations to its new director, Dr. Rose Owens-West, a WestEd staff member who has worked extensively on equity issues with diverse communities across the U.S.

The Region IX EAC will be sponsoring a series of webinars in partnership with SchoolsMovingUp, beginning with the February 22nd Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math STEM webinar described below. We also invite you to view the new Region IX EAC website. The Region IX EAC serves California, Nevada, and Arizona, and is one of ten centers funded by the U. S. Department of Education. The Center provides technical assistance, professional development and training to schools, districts, state education agencies, and community-based organizations, to ensure that all children have access to equitable education opportunities.
