Description

The Office of Head Start has now issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) due July 9th, 2009, to expand Early Head Start throughout the nation, using the additional funding available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. First 5 California, in partnership with WestEd's Center for Child & Family Studies and Preschool California, is conducting an additional webinar to assist Head Start/Early Head Start grantees, school districts, and community-based organizations in writing proposals in response to the RFP.

The addition of Part III to this webinar series resulted from numerous technical assistance requests on how to write a proposal using simple, concise language. This webinar, aimed at those unfamiliar with writing federal grant proposals, will provide an overview of the key elements of RFP processes. Suzanne Burns, Senior Development Associate at WestEd, will provide a general understanding of the approach to federal grants and offer some concrete examples to support participants in writing compelling RFPs. Scott Moore, Senior Policy Advisor at Preschool California, will help participants understand the allocation of resources related to administering multiple funding sources and budget development.

For key content elements of the Early Head Start expansion grant opportunity, please visit the Office of Head Start's Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC). We strongly encourage participants to review the Office of Head Start’s Early Head Start Expansion Pre-Application webcast as well SchoolsMovingUp’s Early Head Start Part I and Part II webinar archives. Also, you can view related abstracts on early childhood education in the SchoolsMovingUp Reading Room.
