Description
Santa Fe Middle School in Los Angeles County, California, serves a high poverty, high minority student population that performs well above its peers and has received a "similar schools ranking" of 10 (on a 10-point scale) on the California Academic Performance Index (API) for the past three years. Over two thirds of Santa Fe students are Hispanic, and over two thirds of the student body is eligible for free or reduced price lunches. In spite of many challenges, Santa Fe's API rose from 601 to 793 over the past 10 years, and in 2009, Santa Fe was recognized as a California Distinguished School. In this webinar, Principal Ron Letourneau, Assistant Principal Rick Crosby, and Program Advisor Yvonne Koskela will share key strategies to the school's success, including a culture of high expectations, strong communication, and use of technology and data.
This webinar is presented by the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and WestEd as partners in the California Comprehensive Center to highlight high-performing, high-need schools that are making a difference in student achievement.
