Description

Kathy Glass—President of Glass Educational Consulting and author of Lesson Design for Differentiated Instruction—will explain how teaching grammar can be engaging and meaningful. She will model comprehensive, motivational, differentiated grammar lessons using this method: (1) recognize targeted grammar skill in published work; (2) engage in productive, engaging differentiated activities; and (3) successfully apply proper grammar in students’ own work. Some of the grammar skills that will be featured include: dialogue punctuation, varying sentence beginnings, sentence structure, parallelism, and some parts of speech. Kathy will show how grammar can be taught in a way that engages all learners and ultimately is applied to students’ own writing. These differentiated strategies and hands-on lessons can be adapted and applied to lessons in other content areas to vary teachers’ repertoires of instructional strategies.

This webinar will be particularly useful for 3rd – 8th grade language arts teachers, department chairs, and curriculum designers.

When we introduced these posters in teacher professional development, teachers begged us to publish them, and so we have. Use them to build students’ language and thinking in any subject area. Powerful scaffolding for English language learners.
