Fidelity of implementation is a vital component of any school improvement process. This interactive webinar will outline the “nuts and bolts” of fidelity implementation by highlighting the IRIS Center’s newly developed, free, online professional development instructional module about fidelity. This module discusses the importance of selecting evidence-based practices and programs and examines actions that school personnel can take to increase the likelihood that the practice or program is implemented as it was designed. Presenters include Larry Wexler, Director, Research to Practice Division at the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP); Mel Riddile, Associate Director of High School Services at the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP); Silvia DeRuvo, Senior Program Associate at the California Comprehensive Center at WestEd; Naomi Tyler, Co-principal Investigator of The IRIS Center at Vanderbilt University; and Kim Skow, Project Coordinator of The IRIS Center and Fidelity of Implementation Module Co-developer.

These professional development training materials are designed for use with teachers, administrators and other support personnel who need to learn more about fidelity of implementation. This webinar will provide an interactive overview of the IRIS site and of the online Fidelity of Implementation module that includes the following topics:

Participants will have the opportunity to tour these training tools, see the interactive nature of the resources, and interact with experts as they discuss the content and design of the modules to support the ongoing professional development process. You can also see a podcast of how to navigate an IRIS module.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) funds the IRIS (IDEA ’04 and Research for Inclusive Settings) Center for Training Enhancements (Project #325F060003). The Center works with content experts from across the country who provided their insight and expertise as the instructional module about fidelity of implementation was developed and produced. In this interactive resource, researchers and practitioners provide real-life scenarios and examples to help school leaders recognize the significance of fidelity of implementation.
