Description

This Online Event will highlight one school district's success in raising student achievement, along with some of the reasons for this improvement. The Vail School District (AZ) and its Mesquite Elementary School moved rapidly and effectively to implement an accountability system and significant changes in classroom practice, with excellent results. With implementation support and professional development from WestEd's Local Accountability Professional Development Series (LAPDS), and using Assessment Technology, Inc.'s (ATI) web-based benchmark assessment/data management system, teachers and administrators were able to quickly intervene with students who had missed the opportunity to learn with the help of instant turnaround on benchmark assessment and formative assessment data.

In this interactive presentation, Ruth McKenna of WestEd's LAPDS; Joe Sassone, Assistant Superintendent of Vail School District near Tucson, AZ; and Jason Feld, VP of Assessment Technology, Inc. (ATI) will discuss the measures taken that have helped schools at all grade levels achieve dramatic improvements in student learning.
