Superintendent, Cayucos Elementary School District
James J. Brescia, Ed.D. is a Visiting Professor in the Educational Leadership and Administration Program at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Dr. Brescia is also the superintendent of the Cayucos Elementary School District and has previously served as the coordinator of the Multiple Subjects Credential Program at Cal Poly. Dr. Brescia’s writing and research interests include the areas of school leadership, instructional leadership, and problem-solving-based training of educational leaders. His research on Novel Videography as a professional development tool is currently being implemented in several central coast schools and has been presented at education conferences internationally.
During his 20 years as a school administrator, Dr. Brescia established and supervised several highly successful after-school programs for students in kindergarten through grade eight. Most recently he is expanding an existing after-school program to include music, art, drama and Spanish as enrichment activities for kindergarten through grade five students.
