Abstract (written by WestEd)
This article, aimed at parents, defines and outlines the salient aspects of Response to Intervention, including its essential components, key terms, role in eligibility for special education, and potential benefits. Especially useful is a list of questions for parents to ask school officials, from “Does our school use an RTI process?” to “At what point in the RTI process are parents informed of their due process rights under IDEA 2004?” The authors provide a helpful list of online resources as well.
