Abstract (written by Author/Publisher)
This study reports on efforts at five elementary and middle schools that have lengthened the school day in order to improve science learning. The profiled schools are mainstream public schools with high-poverty student populations, most with many ESL students. "Together, these schools offer a glimpse of what is possible when schools and districts make science a priority and when they furnish students and teachers with the time they need to build dynamic science programs."
