The Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM) recognizes that people who are experiencing a change go through multiple stages of concern: awareness, informational, personal, management, consequences, collaboration, and refocusing. These stages of concern have important implications for professional development. Because the participants' stages of concern change through the course of the adoption of the innovation, professional developers should focus the trainings to meet the ongoing, changing concerns and needs of the participants.
