| In this interactive online presentation, participants will explore research on adolescent English language learners (ELLs) and examined the findings and policy recommendations from a recent report, Double the Work. The study’s co-author, Deborah Short, Senior Research Associate at the Center for Applied Linguistics, will discuss the development of academic literacy for second language learners, identify the backgrounds of adolescent ELLs in U.S. schools, and compare model programs for these students with current practices. Specific instructional strategies that promote academic literacy for language and content classrooms will also be described. | |
