Smaller learning communities hold great promise as an innovation for addressing the complexities of high school redesign. This interactive presentation with Rose Owens-West, Senior Project Director at WestEd, will examine how smaller learning communities effectively address many of the significant challenges facing high schools today.

This event will outline how smaller learning communities address:
  • the research supporting smaller learning communities;
  • modernizing the curriculum to adequately prepare students for postsecondary life;
  • educating students who are performing far below their grade level standards;
  • providing meaningful and appropriate professional development for teachers; and
  • redesigning the operations of huge schools.
