Principal Transitions
After opening the school and helping improve test scores for three consecutive years, the principal transitioned from Prairie Vista to the district office, where she became the Classified Human Resource Coordinator. An assistant principal in one of Hawthorne Elementary School District's other middle schools was identified as her replacement months before Prairie Vista's principal left. This allowed the leadership transition to be an informed one. The current and new principals discussed curriculum, instruction, assessment, staff, and the day-to-day operations of the school. In addition, both principals conducted hiring for the upcoming year.
