Response to Intervention (Rtl) and the Connections to Neurodevelopment
Leigh Burgess January 23 - Free Online Event

What’s Happening in Vocabulary Research?
Elfrieda

Hiebert January 29 - Free Online Event
In this interactive presentation, Elfrieda (Freddy) H. Hiebert, Visiting Research Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, will review recent research on vocabulary instruction. Central to this discussion of current research will be the article Vocabulary: Questions from the classroom, written by Camille Blachowicz and colleagues and published in the December 2006 issue of Reading Research Quarterly. Videoclips of Professor Blachowicz's responses to a series of questions in an interview with Professor Hiebert will be part of the presentation. Participants will have the opportunity to download the Blachowicz et al. article prior to the event and also read a summary of a weblog that is designed to encourage thinking and interacting around current issues in vocabulary research.

Differentiated Instruction: An Overview and One Classroom’s Transformation
Melissa Storm January 30 - Free Online Event

In this interactive presentation, Melissa Storm, Technical Assistance Liaison at the Access Center, and Lori Centerbar, veteran secondary teacher, will provide participants with an overview of differentiated instruction, offer an introduction to differentiation strategies, and present the story of a classroom that has been transformed through differentiation.

Resource Allocation to Support Student Achievement
Jannelle
Kubinec February 14 - Free Online Event
Proactive resource management has always been important, but it's never been more critical. The basic premise behind this online presentation is that not all dollars are created equal. Some dollars carry restrictions that limit their use while others are free to be used for a wide array of purposes. Planning how to spend each of these dollars to maximize the impact on student achievement is critical. Meeting the goals and objectives of No Child Left Behind requires deliberate and sustained action. This can only be achieved when resources are used strategically to support fundamental changes in educational practice over time, changes that address specific identified needs at the school or district level. In this session, Jannelle Kubinec, Associate Vice President at School Services of California, and Lori Van Houten, Senior Program Associate with WestEd's Comprehensive School Assistance Program, will provide information on funding opportunities and demonstrate how to align resources to school improvement needs.
