Data Mentoring: Building Capacity for Data-Driven Decision Making
January 25 - Free Online Event All schools have data, but most don't know how to effectively use the information to make decisions. In this free interactive presentation led by Darrell Brown, Assessment & Accountability Coordinator of Beaumont USD (CA), you will learn how Beaumont and WestEd partnered to build the capacity of teachers to read, analyze, and interpret assessment data to inform their planning. This presentation will be co-facilitated by by Lori Van Houten, Senior Program Associate with WestEd's Comprehensive School Assistance Program. Free registration required.
Building Achievement Through Choice: An Online Toolkit February 8 - Free Online Event
This interactive presentation with Kristin Arnold, Director of Edvance, introduces an online toolkit, www.buildingchoice.org, designed to help districts implement and expand their school choice offerings. The Web site draws upon practices of districts that are on the leading edge of expanding family education options. These districts were also featured in the Innovations in Education Book Series developed by WestEd and published by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Innovation and Improvement. Free registration required.

Bell to Bell Learning Research shows that time-on-task is a significant factor in effectively teaching all of the standards students are being held accountable for. With that in mind, Mesquite staff created the "Bell to Bell Learning Program,” which promotes the use of every available minute during the school day for learning.
Do you work in or with a high school that has a great idea to share? If so, SchoolsMovingUp invites you to nominate it to be profiled as a "Tip to Go." Our Tips are concrete school improvement strategies that are easily implemented or replicated. In addition to the one above, see our other Tips to Go for examples.
Please consider sharing your success stories and strategies with others. It's easy to nominate! Simply contact us with the school or district name, its location, a contact person's email address and phone number, and a brief description of your tip. We will then send you a short questionnaire.
