Adolescent Literacy in the Content Areas Highlights promising practices for adolescent literacy in the content areas, with sections covering strategies for improving students’ literacy and learning, stories of practices in action, and resources related to culturally responsive instruction. American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Offers a number of resources for educators, including "Issues and Insights," organized by topic area, and a section dedicated to resources and best practices for implementing the No Child Left Behind Act. American Federation of Teachers (AFT) - Redesigning Schools to Raise Achievement Contains a resource guide that presents ideas, information, and materials, including: profiles of selected districts, indicators of low performance; materials that can be used to help devise a school audit; procedures by which the school's instructional staff can make an informed choice among research-proven improvement programs and strategies; and profiles of several research-proven schoolwide improvement. Annenberg Institute for School Reform Develops, shares and acts on knowledge that improves conditions and outcomes of urban schools in the United States. A project of Brown University. Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Addresses all aspects of effective teaching and learning—such as professional development, educational leadership, and capacity building--and offers broad, multiple perspectives in reporting key policies and practices. Educational Leadership, ASCD’s monthly magazine, provides practical strategies for educators. Best Evidence Encyclopedia (BEE) Offers educators and researchers fair and useful information about the strength of the evidence supporting a variety of programs available for students in grades K-12. Developed by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Data-Driven Reform in Education. Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement Provides information about research-based strategies on school improvement and also relevant guides, tools, and links. Funded by the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education of the US Department of Education. Center for Research on Education, Diversity, and Excellence (CREDE) Focuses on improving the education of students whose ability to reach their potential is challenged by language or cultural barriers, race, geographic location, or poverty. A project of the University of California at Berkeley. Center on Reinventing Public Education Provides free online access to all of the organization’s publications, which are aimed at improving policy and decision-making in K-12 education. Comprehensive Centers Program This program supports 21 comprehensive centers to help increase state capacity to help low-performing schools and districts close achievement gaps and meet the goals of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Consortium of School Networking (CoSN) Provides products and services to support leadership development, advocacy, coalition building, and awareness of emerging technologies. Doing What Works Offers a user-friendly interface to quickly locate practical teaching practices that have been found effective by the US Department of Education’s research arm, the Institute of Education Sciences, and similar organizations. Education Trust Provides the following: advocacy for schools, colleges and communities; analysis and expert testimony on policy issues; research and wide public dissemination of data; and assistance to school districts, colleges, and community-based organizations to help their efforts at raising student achievement, especially among minority and poor students. George Lucas Educational Foundation Newsletters Documents and disseminates stories about exemplary practices in K-12 public education through five weekly e-newsletters -- the original Edutopia News and four topic-specific publications: Assessment, Project-Based Learning, Social & Emotional Learning, and Technology Integration. Improving School Board Decision-Making: The Data Connection Offers PowerPoint presentations, quizzes, hands-on training tools and other helpful materials for school board members and trainers who want to know more about how to use data in decision making. Learning Innovations at WestEd Provides the following information on the products, services and projects of WestEd’s Learning Innovations division, which addresses the issues of Assessment, Community Development, Evaluation, Leadership Development, Policy Studies & Analysis, School Reform, Special Needs & Full Inclusion, Teacher Professional Development, and Technology. Lexile Framework for Reading Explains the Lexile Framework for Reading reading measurement tool to educators, families, and researchers and offers free products to encourage progress in student reading. National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators Provides to its members receive timely information about the implementation of No Child Left Behind and enables them share resources and ideas. National Clearinghouse for Comprehensive School Reform Funded by the US Department of Education’s Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, this website is the central gateway to information on comprehensive school reform. National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition (NCELA) Features current information regarding federal policies and major events, as well as databases, research, and additional links. NCELA is funded by the US Department of Education through the office of English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement & Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficient Students (OELA). National Middle School Association Provides pertinent information about young adolescents by listing relevant research publications and useful links to state, regional, provincial and international affiliate organizations. National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs Presents the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs which were developed by the National PTA in cooperation with education and parent involvement professionals through the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education (NCPIE). New Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) Online System Enables the public to search the ERIC bibliographic database of more than 1.2 million education-related citations going back to 1966, as well as more than 107,000 full-text non-journal documents issued since 1993 that are available for free. No Child Left Behind - ED.gov Provides information about the No Child Left Behind legislation including an overview, an A-Z index, and specific tabs for students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
